ADSS Guide

How to Choose ADSS Fiber Optic Cable for 100m and 200m Span Routes

A practical buyer guide for selecting ADSS cable by span, fiber count, sheath, strength member and installation environment.

How to Choose ADSS Fiber Optic Cable for 100m and 200m Span Routes

Start with the route span

For ADSS cable, the first question is not only fiber count. The buyer should confirm pole distance, wind load, ice load, sag requirement and whether the cable is close to power lines. A 100 m route and a 200 m route may need different aramid yarn design and sheath options.

Confirm fiber count and fiber type

Common ADSS fiber counts include 12, 24, 48, 96 and 144 cores. G.652D is widely used for backbone and access routes, while G.657A may be selected when tighter bending is expected near terminals.

Check sheath and environment

Black PE or HDPE jacket is common for outdoor telecom routes. For power line environments, anti-tracking sheath can be discussed according to voltage level and route condition.

Common buyer mistake

Some buyers only send fiber count and quantity. For ADSS, that is not enough. Span, wind area, pole distance and installation condition affect the cable design more than buyers expect.

Typical data to compare

When comparing quotations, check cable diameter, cable weight, rated tensile strength, crush resistance, sheath type, drum length and whether the structure is designed for the requested span.

Information to send for quotation

Send span, fiber count, fiber type, quantity, route environment, destination country and required drum length. Photos or a simple route drawing help the supplier confirm the structure faster.

LATAM route review before choosing ADSS

For a Latin American aerial route, record typical and exceptional spans separately, together with altitude, wind, coastal salt, temperature, road crossings and pole access. Confirm the delivery port and drum handling limits at the same time; these route and logistics details are more useful than asking for a generic 100 m or 200 m ADSS cable.
